My driveway slopes — how do you keep the gate level?
Sloping ground affects gate travel, so we choose the hinge type and operator mounting to suit — and on a steeper grade a slide that floats clear of the ground avoids the problem entirely. We assess the grade on site before designing.
Can you build with real timber?
Yes, heavy timber suits the rustic look here, though wood moves and stains fade under foothill sun. Where a client wants that look with less upkeep we'll use clad-wood over a steel frame. Either way we finish and detail it to hold up.
Does the DG dust really wear the gate?
On these foothill lots it can — fine decomposed-granite dust works into gearboxes and bearings and adds friction over time. Sealed, greasable hardware and higher duty-cycle components handle it, along with a simple maintenance rhythm.
What holds up best to the summer heat?
