My lot is graded — does that change the gate?
It changes the structure. A gate on a slope puts gravity load on the hinges and mounting, so we size those for the grade and the gate's weight. On a steeper approach a slide that runs level can be the cleaner answer. We assess it on site.
How do you handle the wet, freezing winters?
Moisture and cold are the main tests up here. We seal the operator enclosures against water and snow, use industrial-grade hinges that resist seizing, and finish the gate to hold up to the freeze-thaw — the goal is keeping water out of the joints and the electronics.
Will a cedar-infill gate survive the seasons?
With the right sealing and detailing, yes, though wood moves with the weather. Where a client wants less upkeep at this elevation we'll steer toward a clad or composite panel over the steel frame. The steel carries the structure; we seal against the moisture.
Does the summer sun fade the finish?
