- Gate weight and material. The operator must be sized to the real weight, a heavy iron gate needs a stronger unit than a light aluminum one.
- Condition and squareness. Rust, sag, warping, or loose welds get fixed before automating; an operator only magnifies an existing problem.
- Smooth travel. The gate has to swing or roll freely by hand. Any binding or drag gets resolved first.
- Power access. We confirm how power reaches the gate, or whether solar is the better route on a remote entrance.
