Heavy iron leaf, uphill drive, ridge wind
Picture a heavy iron estate gate on an uphill drive, exposed to seasonal ridge wind. We'd weigh the leaf and read the grade; because the uphill swing and wind both fight a light arm, we'd spec a heavy-duty DC or AC hydraulic operator sized to weight and wind — or a slide where a swing won't clear — on a stable pad, sealed against DG dust, with a heat- and PSPS-rated backup.
Access control & safety features
The right operator opens the door to genuinely useful features — app notifications, keypad and card access, telephone entry, and video at the entry. Why do my backup batteries wear out?
Extreme summer enclosure heat and frequent PSPS deep-cycling both shorten cell life. We size the pack for the conditions and set a replacement interval rather than fitting the smallest battery.
Can dust really cause gate faults?
Where DG and unpaved surfaces are present, fine dust fouls photo eyes and gums limit switches and gears. We seal the enclosure and set a cleaning interval to keep faults from creeping in.
