Why a slider, and when a swing still wins
A slider is not the default — a wide, flat lot with plenty of clear driveway can still take a swing pair more cheaply. It pulls ahead where the site fights back:
A swing leaf needs an arc of clear drive to open into; a slider needs none, so a car can wait right at the gate.
A swing gate opening across a grade drags or binds against the ground; a slider runs level along the fence line, above the pitch.
