Duty cycle is how many open/close cycles an operator can run per hour without overheating. A busy commercial gate can run hundreds of cycles a day, which is why we spec continuous-duty HySecurity or heavy-duty DoorKing (DKS) units. A residential-grade operator on that load can overheat, wear fast, and fail early — one common cause of commercial gate downtime we get called out for.
Can a gate handle wide horse and equipment trailers?
Yes — the opening just has to be sized to the widest thing that goes through it, and a longer leaf drives the design toward a heavier operator or a bi-parting configuration. We measure the actual trailers and gear and size the opening and hardware to carry them reliably.
